I love pro football. I am 61 years of age, and I have followed the NFL since I was 12. That makes this the 50th NFL season that I have followed. Watching NFL football has provided me hundreds of hours of viewing pleasure over the years.
However, there are some things I love more than pro football. Among them are my country, my flag and my national anthem. Professional football players have the same constitutional right of free speech and expression that all other Americans enjoy. However, their choice of making their protest by disrespecting our country, our flag and our national anthem has enraged tens of millions of patriotic Americans, myself included.
I suppose that a majority of NFL players have not taken part in the current protests. Nevertheless, unless and until the commissioner of the NFL apologizes to the American public and puts a stop to the players’ outrageous and divisive conduct, I am finished with the NFL.
